Celebrating Women's Month | August 2026

Ms Shirley Machaba extends her warmest wishes to all women, encouraging them to continue breaking barriers, embracing opportunities, and inspiring future generations through courage and excellence.

A proud University of Venda alumna, Ms Machaba made history in 2019 as the first woman and first Black African woman to lead PwC Southern Africa. She is a distinguished Chartered Accountant, Chartered Director, and one of South Africa's most respected corporate leaders, with nearly three decades of experience in auditing, governance, business leadership, and strategic transformation.

As we commemorate Women's Month, we celebrate the remarkable women whose leadership, resilience, innovation, and determination continue to shape our communities, our institutions, and our nation.

At UCfERI, we remain committed to creating spaces where women entrepreneurs, leaders, innovators, researchers, and students can thrive, lead, and transform society. Together, we honour the legacy of the women who came before us while empowering those who will define tomorrow.
