This inspired me today as todays problems are tomorrows solutions

Thought I would share this article and video from Tom Schuler, Solidia as I resonated with his message of finding solutions, that today we think are problems. With concrete contributing 5-7 % of global CO2 and the 2nd most used resource, we need to find solutions to reduce concretes CO2.

You can always do more so start acting and doing something small today to creat the ripple of change that is so needed in this world. Thank you for inspiring me to do more

Well Done team Mahali. It was great to see your design evolve from your original presentation and good to keep the SA flag flying. Looking forward to you sharing the lessons learned and getting more built on home soil.

Travelling to Kruger National park I was shocked at the number of coal trucks on the road. The haze in the air and my daughters coughing when we stopped for a break was a clear sign that coal fired power stations need to go. Medupi and Kusile are HUGE and complex. As an engineer it is extremely frustrating to read this article. How they are designed "correctly" but short sighted stupid decisions are allowed to happen that puts Economy at risk.

I am not sharing this because negative, I am sharing as I am positive that change will happen sooner because of incidents like this. Renewables are the way to go and YOU have the choice to change your world right Here, Today. There are many ways to change to a Zero carbon future.

Times are a changing and finally heading in a more positive direction. Change is slow and we need MORE ACTION sooner. Thank you Eskom as you are helping people change to renewables sooner and take control of their energy future. Great meeting this week with Nedbank to gain understanding of how to tap into green loans for CO2 reducing projects. Machiavelli's, “Never waste the opportunity offered by a good crisis.” rings true.

I am positive that things will get better and this energy plan is a great start. You have many options you can do right Here and Today. Let me help you find solutions to your needs

In South Africa, solar and wind are in, and coal is gradually on the way out. That’s the key takeaway from the latest IRP, which maps out the energy mix.

The more I explore the challenges of reducing CO2 gases the more opportunities and solutions I see. I am excited about collaboration and being part of the solution. We have to change our habitual thinking that we need to rip down and make new. Why not repurpose what is there? It is financially and environmentally better so let me know what is preventing this transition. Only once we start talking about the elephant in the room can be collectively find solutions. What do you think?

The need to preserve, conserve, restore, and adapt.

Wow can't wait for the summit and ranges from health, buildings, energy, activism, farming, waste, ecology. Just bought the premium package as I know there will be resources I can draw on now to help our planet and advise people. Added bonus is 10 % proceeds go towards project Drawdown which I support so win -win. Check it out and let me know what excites you. Have an awesome Friday.

Morning and as my PV system on my roof has just produced 20000 KWh in the last 5 years it is good to know I am doing something positive to help keep the lights on. Had some good chats on the weekend with fellow solution orientated people and advised them what they could do to reduce Eskom dependance. Let me know what you are doing and got any great ideas?

State-owned power utility Eskom will lose more than a quarter of its current generating capacity over the next decade as it shuts ageing coal-fired plants.

I am a firm believer in SOLAR and have Solar thermal and a PV system at my house. I always recommend solar over a heat pump as the performance of heat pumps is variable and no supplier "designs " the best location. This leads to poor performing systems that don't save the electricity promised.
So if you draw the hot water every couple days then solar is the way to go. With intermittent and unpredictable use then heat pumps would be the preferred option. Just remember with the heat-pump to get a maintenance plan as needs to be serviced, filters cleaned etc otherwise performance drops substantially.
Even if you have an existing non renewable system to upgrade to solar or heat pump is a 3-4.5 year ROI.
Let me know how I can help you transition to cleaner energy and save both your pocket, the environment and Eskom!

At this point in time, decommissioning your “electric geyser” and replacing it with a solar water heater, could be construed as an act of patriotism.
