SARS' auto-assessment process makes tax season easier, but easier does not always mean accurate.

Incorrect or incomplete information from employers, medical schemes, banks or other third-party providers could affect the amount of tax you pay or the refund you receive.

Sascha Astle, Specialised Tax Manager at PKF Port Elizabeth, explains why taxpayers should carefully review their auto-assessments and tax certificates before accepting them.

Top-performing trainees šŸ‘

Four have recently been recognised as top-performers in their accounting studies.

Boitumelo Magampa (PKF Johannesburg), David Moodley and Makayla Padayachee (both from PKF Durban) were honoured among the University of South Africa College of Accounting Studies’ top 100 students for 2026. What’s more, PKF Uganda’s John Tumusiime was named a top-performer in the August 2026 CTA exam sitting, scoring very highly on his Public Finance Management (Level III) exam.

These achievements reflect the students’ dedication, resilience and commitment to excellence. Congratulations to you all!

This morning, one of our Partners, Avi, took on the role of a judge in Emeris Westville’s Dragons’ Den student assignment.

Seven teams took to the stage to pitch their ideas to the judges. The students delivered impressive presentations, demonstrating thorough research and a strong understanding of their business concepts.

Not only was it a great opportunity for the students to share their business ideas, but it also gave them the chance to receive valuable constructive feedback from the judges.

Thank you, Life @ Emeris , for inviting PKF to be part of such a fantastic project!
