Leanne Moffat, originally from Gauteng, moved to Durban some time ago. On 25 November 2025, she sent a WhatsApp message to a friend saying she needed to return to Gauteng because she did not feel safe. She mentioned that she was around unsafe people and was in an environment where she feared for her well-being. She did not specify which area of Durban she was in.

Since that message, there has been no further communication from Leanne. This is deeply out of character. She usually finds a way to contact friends through Facebook Messenger or by borrowing a phone. Her sudden silence has caused serious concern. Friends and family have posted widely, but there have been no leads and no confirmed sightings.

⚠️ ALLEGED KIDNAPPING & RANSOM SYNDICATE OPERATING IN OUR AREA ⚠️
Residents of Tshepisong and surrounding communities are urged to be extremely vigilant following disturbing reports of criminals allegedly involved in kidnapping residents and demanding ransom money.

📌 WHAT WE KNOW SO FAR:
• Suspects are allegedly moving freely within the area
• A man was reportedly kidnapped from his own home, in front of his family
• He was held overnight, with his whereabouts unknown
• The following day, suspects allegedly demanded R40 000, threatening to kill him
• The family managed to raise R37 000, which was handed over
• The victim was later released but assaulted and traumatized

🗣️ COMMUNITY WARNING:

This is not an isolated concern. Such crimes thrive where fear and silence exist. Reporting incidents immediately gives law enforcement a fighting chance to trace and arrest those responsible.
