VEREENIGING - Polisie en ondersoekbeamptes vir vermiste persone doen 'n beroep op inligting om 'n 56-jarige man van Vereeniging op te spoor wat sedert gisteroggend vermis word. Hendrik Fredrick Louw, bekend as Hennie, is laas omstreeks 7:00 op 25 Augustus gesien. Volgens 'n waarskuwing vir vermiste persone het Louw sy seun by die skool afgelaai voordat hy vertrek het, en sy voertuig is later verlate op die R59-brug gevind. Louw het groen oë, grys hare, 'n gemiddelde bou en weeg ongeveer 100 kilogram. Enigiemand wat Louw moontlik gesien het of inligting het wat kan help om hom op te spoor, word versoek om SAPD Vereeniging te kontak by 016 450 2262. Inligting kan ook deur die MySAPS-app of per WhatsApp na 086 001 0111 gestuur word. Die organisasie vir vermiste persone sê daar is geen wagtydperk om 'n persoon as vermis aan te meld nie. Inwoners word versoek om die versoek te deel en enige inligting aan die polisie aan te meld.

VEREENIGING - Three suspects have been fatally wounded in a shootout with police in Vereeniging, Vaal Triangle. Gauteng police spokesperson Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi says the confrontation followed a robbery at a residential property. The suspects allegedly followed the victim to his home before robbing him of an undisclosed amount of cash. SABC News reports members of the Tactical Response Team later spotted the suspects’ vehicle and attempted to stop it. Police say the occupants opened fire, prompting officers to retaliate and call for backup. The Gauteng Traffic Airwing, CAP Security and Tracker Connect security teams responded to assist. Nevhuhulwi says all three suspects were fatally wounded and declared dead at the scene. Police recovered three fi****ms, two with filed-off serial numbers, as well as the money allegedly stolen in the robbery. False registration plates were also recovered. The fi****ms will undergo ballistic testing as investigations continue.

[ HELP POLICE LOCATE MISSING 42-YEAR-OLD CLINTON CLOUD VANDER MERWE]

The South African Police Service (SAPS) in Polokwane is appealing to members of the public for assistance in locating 42-year-old Clinton Cloud Vander Merwe, who has been reported .

Clinton Cloud Vander Merwe was reportedly last seen by his grandmother, on Wednesday, 15 July 2026, at approximately 15:30, when he visited her at her residence in Flora Park, Polokwane.

His family does not know his current whereabouts. The clothes he was wearing when he was last seen are also unknown.

Anyone with information that could assist the police in locating Clinton Cloud Vander Merwe is urged to contact the investigating officer, Sergeant Mokgadi Molope, on 082 728 9831, call on 08600 10111 or report the information to the nearest police station, or use .

A woman has died after a large rock was thrown from the Concord Road Bridge onto the R24 freeway near Bedfordview, authorities said Thursday.

The rock struck the windscreen of the victim’s vehicle, causing serious head injuries. The driver then lost control and collided with the road barriers. Emergency services pronounced her dead at the scene, police confirmed.

An inquest into the incident has been opened at Bedfordview Police Station. Investigators are asking anyone who witnessed the event, has dashcam or CCTV footage, or who may have information about the person or persons responsible to come forward.
“This was a tragic, avoidable loss of life,” a spokesperson for the local police said. “We urgently need the public’s assistance to identify those involved and to prevent further incidents.” No arrests have been reported so far.

The R24 is a major arterial route into Johannesburg and Bedfordview, and authorities warned motorists to exercise caution in the area while the investigation continues. Road users with relevant footage or information can contact Bedfordview Police Station or report details through the Johannesburg police tip line.
