Kasi 2020 presents the first edition of “Kasi Talks: For us, by us, for all of us,” a symposium set to be hosted on
Saturday 13 May 2017 at the Kasi iHub in Vosloorus, Ekurhuleni.
Kasi 2020 is a project-based movement for the Transformation and Development of South African Townships. The project seeks to create 20 successful Social Enterprises that will have a significant impact on SA Townships by the year 2020.
On the day, 3 keynote speakers will engage guests and local community members about the main theme for the day: “The Role of Art and Design in re-inventing South African Townships.”
Kasi Talks is a series of short lectures presented by industry leaders who share knowledge, ideas and visions for township re-development.
Topics presented by speakers will explore various facets of art and design in the reinvention of South African Townships.
“As Kasi Talks, we strive to engage communities by developing new ways of thinking about design and how it can influence township development. We’ll be interrogating how township residents are using space creatively and how modern architecture from a unique local perspective can change lives,” said Kasi Talks coordinator Phumzile Twala.
Entrance is free and the platform invites local community members, local business owners and creatives to engage in the topic at hand.
