JUST IN: The Herald has received reports of a hostage drama under way in Jeffreys Bay.

While details are sketchy, police spokesman Sergeant Majola Nkohli confirmed that police responded to an armed robbery at the Shoprite in Seekoei Road, Pellsrus which then turned into a hostage drama.

It is not clear how many hostages are being held.

At least one suspect has been killed and a bystander injured.

Hostage negotiators are on the scene.
