INGREDIENTS
3 cups Supreme Cake Wheat Flour
250g Tafelberg Super Maize Meal
5g dried yeast
½ tsp salt
½ tsp Selati sugar
1 cup lukewarm water
1 tablespoon cooking oil
METHOD
In a mixing bowl put maize meal, flour, salt, sugar and yeast mix well. Make a well in the middle add water and mix.
On a working surface sprinkle flour and start kneading your dough until your hands are clean and there no stickiness of dough.
Put in a bowl and cover with the cling wrap and put in a warm place.
It can be on top of the oven. Wait until it doubles in size. Then cut the sizes you want and roll the balls we made ours about 90g each.
Leave them prove for about 10-15minutes.
If you wish to steam them on their own, place them in a bowl covered with clingwrap or plastic bag and place in a pot with some boiling water in it, close the lid and steam the dumplings for 20minutes.
Or place the balls over the top of your stew so that they cover the top of the pot, place the lid back onto the pot and steam for 20 minutes.
