One cornerstone of Relationship Systems Intelligence (RSI) is that everyone has a voice that needs to be heard.
What this means is that all the members of a relationship system have ideas, perceptions and opinions that are different from one another and contribute valuable and creative information to the team's ability to be effective.

Even unpopular opinions need to be taken into account, as they are also an important feature of the relationship system (team).

Dealing with these opinions skillfully when they arise enables teams to be more effective as an inclusive whole.

RSI develops the team’s skills to work with its diversity and create a place for inclusion.

Teamwork makes the dream work. Success and excellence are the output of the team’s efforts, and ideally not the outcome of only a few members’ actions.

Organisational success depends on the effective communication and collaboration of each member of the relationship system.

Relationship Systems Intelligence
(RSI) offers leaders and teams a guide for shifting to a systemic paradigm. To learn more about this, download our ebook here. https://www.workingbettertogether.co.za/emotional-intelligence-ebook

Unfortunately, toxic work environments have become a norm in the business landscape. Everyone is trying to succeed in high-stress, high-pressure situations and a never-ending to-do list.

However, a toxic work environment only makes things worse for everyone. These kinds of workplaces are a one-way ticket to employee burn-out.
Poor morale and low productivity are common in these settings, ultimately affecting the business’s bottom line.

These are all instances of low Relationship Systems Intelligence (RSI). Good RSI helps businesses co-create a supportive work environment that encourages their team’s success, increases employee morale and boosts productivity despite ongoing pressures.

Teams and workplaces are made up of different people from diverse backgrounds. Conflict is inevitable, as every person brings their own set of opinions, solutions and perceptions.

Conflict is not only marked by explosive and overtly aggressive behaviour; it often shows up in more subversive and passive forms.
These subtle forms of toxic behaviour are often even more debilitating for teams than outright confrontations.

How you deal with this conflict, however, will decide your team’s success and determine the health of its overall relationship system.

To have Relationship Systems Intelligence (RSI), one must first have Emotional Intelligence. Emotional Intelligence is the ability to access and express one’s own emotions in an effective and productive way.

It is the ability to use emotional information to guide one's acting and thinking and to adjust or adapt to different situations. To be able to do this, one must be able to discern between different feelings.

Is there a place for emotions in the workplace? Yes.

As humans, we are emotional beings. Although showing emotion, especially negative emotion, is frowned upon in a working environment, this doesn't make these emotions any less prevalent or lessen their impact.

This is why Emotional Intelligence skills are important for success. A person with Emotional Intelligence can skillfully work with their internal experiences.

Relationship Systems Intelligence (RSI) invites us to continue developing our Emotional Intelligence in the context of working more effectively as part of a team.
