IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT!

Greetings our esteemed clients in Choma.

Angefe and Pyanga cleaning services wishes to inform you that the Choma main waste dump site has filled up putting franchise companies providing waste collection services like us in a very tight conner.
As you may know we use the council dumpsite at Marabo for safely disposing off the waste we collect from your households. The Choma municipal council has a responsibility of making sure the dumpsite is maintained but due to the councils' continued strike the dumpsite has not been maintained in the past few weeks and it has filled up to an extent that if waste disposal continues the situation will pose a danger to the houses near the dumpsite.

We shall keep engaging the relevant authorities towards resolving the current crisis. In the meantime we apologize for the inconvenience caused by our services being put on hold due to these circumstances that are beyond our control.

We are fully committed to resume our trusted service provision you as soon as the situation normalises.

Please take note....

“IT IS OKAY TO BURN WASTE AS LONG AS IT IS DONE AT NIGHT”- WRONG!

In many communities, open air burning of waste is a common practice and most people think it is not harmful as long as it is done at night.

It does not matter what time waste is burnt; it still produces dioxins, furans and other dangerous toxic substances in the air, soil and groundwater. Burning of waste endangers you, your children and your neighbors’ health. Some health problems that could result from this include tumors, cancer, learning disorders, infertility, immune system problems, asthma, and other diseases.

What are the alternatives to open air burning of waste?

1. Dispose of man-made materials at the dump by subscribing to garbage collection.

2. Compost leaves and garden waste.

3. Re-use, reduce and recycle waste.

Open air burning is a chargeable offence! Contravening the provisions of the Environmental Management Act (EMA) No. 12 of 2011 and Statutory Instrument (SI) No. 112 of 2013 is liable to a fine of between K1,800 to K15,000 or serve a jail sentence of up to 2 years.
