WORD OF ENCOURAGEMENT FROM THE DISCIPLINARY CHAIRPERSON
"Every morning you have two choices: continue to sleep with your dreams or wake up and pursue them."
Good morning, fellow students.
As we begin this Tuesday, let us take a moment to reflect on who we are, what we represent, and the future we are working hard to build as aspiring marketing professionals.
As the Disciplinary Chairperson of the Zambia Institute of Marketing (ZIM), Chalimbana University Chapter, I would like to encourage each one of us to remain focused, disciplined, and committed to our academic and personal goals.
While success may seem distant at times, it is achieved through dedication, perseverance, and consistent effort. Therefore, it is important that we continue to uphold the values that will shape us into responsible and successful professionals.
Allow me to share three important thoughts for reflection:
Firstly, discipline is doing what needs to be done, even when you do not feel like doing it. Although there may be days when we feel tired, discouraged, or unmotivated, we must continue to attend classes, complete assignments, and prepare for examinations. Indeed, success is not determined by occasional effort but by consistent commitment over time.
Secondly, Winston Churchill wisely stated, "Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts." This reminds us that neither success nor failure should define us. On the one hand, success should motivate us to strive for even greater achievements; on the other hand, failure should serve as a learning opportunity rather than a reason to give up. Most importantly, we must have the courage to keep moving forward regardless of the challenges we encounter.
Thirdly, a person without discipline is like a car without brakes. Just as brakes provide control and direction to a vehicle, discipline helps us make wise decisions, manage our time effectively, and avoid actions that may hinder our progress. Consequently, discipline remains one of the most important qualities for both academic excellence and personal development.
Furthermore, let us reflect on the proverb: "Little by little makes a bundle." This proverb teaches us that small and consistent efforts eventually produce significant results. Therefore, every lecture attended, every chapter studied, and every positive decision made contributes to our future success.
In addition, let us remember the saying: "If you want to go fast, go alone; however, if you want to go far, go together." This reminds us of the importance of unity, cooperation, and mutual support. While individual effort is important, collective growth and shared success create a stronger and more impactful community.
Therefore, let us continue to uphold the values of respect, integrity, professionalism, discipline, and unity as representatives of the Zambia Institute of Marketing. By doing so, we will not only strengthen our chapter but also prepare ourselves for the responsibilities and opportunities that await us in the future.
In conclusion, the habits we cultivate today will determine the success we achieve tomorrow. Therefore, let us remain disciplined in our actions, focused on our goals, and committed to excellence in all that we do.
Have a productive, purposeful, and successful Tuesday.
