A C.E.O of a company was walking round the factory to see how the staff were working.

He noticed I was leaning against the wall doing nothing, he approached me and asked me, "How much do you earn?"
I was amazed and said, "K500,000 Sir".

The CEO took out his wallet, gave me K1,000,000 and yelled at me, "I pay people here to work and not waste time siting around.

This is your 2 months salary, now get out of here, don't say a word and NEVER come back.

After I had left, the CEO now looked at the other workers and asked, "by the way, who was that guy?"

The workers replied, "he was waiting for his friend."

For the past seven years, State House was a residence for me and my family, but I never took it for granted that I would not take my last stroll in these grounds one day; and yesterday, I did. But I did it with a sense of honour that I did my part, just like the five presidents before me.

Another man must now walk this road.

I carry with me great memories of the time I spent here; memories that we share with many citizens who came as our guests.

I'm thankful to the dedicated workers who made our stay memorable.

My prayer is that the next residents will also create their own wonderful memories.
