Emeka was a hardworking electrician. Every week, he made good money — but by Monday, he was always broke again.

BUSINESS IS ABOUT PROFIT NOT SALES

How can I make a K100,000 ?

I can beg 100,000 people a K1 Coin and make K100,000 BUT how do I maintain my dignity as I do it ?

Perhaps I can :

I can sell 100,000 sweets at K1 each to 100,000 people . This is the simplest but hardest way to do it and the most time consuming .

What about if I sell chickens @ K50 , that means I only have to deal with 2000 people (K100,000/K50 ) THAT seems doable right , 2000 chickens is okay and almost everyone eats chicken and there are 18 million Zambians . I think I have a plan here but the problem is it will take me 2 and a half years to make it ( I grow 100 chickens per batch , one batch takes 6 weeks to grow , I will need 20 batches to make K100,000 ( 2000/100 PER BATCH ) . It will take me 120 weeks to grow 2000 chickens which is the same as 2 and a half years . Of course it can take shorter than that as I accumulate and have more capital to put in the business but I am looking at it in the worst case scenario .

2 and a half years to make 100 pin ? That is not good enough for me because that is like making K110 per day for 2.5 yrs ( K100,000 / 912.5 days (2.5 yrs x 365 days per year)) . I think I can do better than that

I know how about if I sell something with a thicker and tastier profit margin , something that doesn’t require time like me waiting for chickens to grow , what if I sell something that has K500 profit like a phone , people love techno or iphones . I can order and make K500 PROFIT that is like selling 10 chickens . So to make a 100 pin I will need to just sell 200 people phones ( K100,000 / K500 PROFIT ) . That is so doable because I can sell a phone every two days , I can make K100,000 in a year , that is just 15 phones a month ( 30 days / 2 days )

CONCLUSION

15 phones a month is easier to do than sell a 100,000 sweets to make 100 pin in a year . What I am teaching you that business is not about merely selling but making a profit , the more profit you ma
