How Do I Actually Buy or Sell Shares on the LuSE?
New to investing?
Want to buy shares in Zambeef, Zanaco, CEC, or another Zambian company but not sure how it works?
You’re not alone. Let’s break it down in simple steps.
To BUY Shares.
1. Download the LuSE App (Google Play or App Store).
2. Sign up and link your account to a broker (e.g., Longhorn, SBZ).
3. Go to “Trade” then click “Buy”.
4. Search for the company for example, ZANACO.
5. Enter.
Number of shares you want
Price per share (check the current market price first.)
6. Choose “Day Order” (your order expires if not filled that day) or “GTD” (Good ‘Til Date stays active until a date you pick).
7. Confirm and wait for a “Matched” status. Shares settle in 3 business days.
To SELL Shares.
1. Go to “Trade” then click “Sell”.
2. Choose the stock from your portfolio.
3. Enter how many shares and your desired price.
4. Hit Confirm and once matched, cash settles in 3 business days.
Some possible tips
If your order fails, it’s often because your price is too high/low or shares aren’t available.
Don’t panic if it doesn’t go through immediately adjust your price slightly and try again.
Always check your "Orders” tab to see if your trade is Pending, Matched, or Rejected
Here is a simple example.
You want to buy 100 shares of CECZ at K25. If someone is selling at K25 (or less), your order matches and boom! You’re a shareholder.
Remember, start small. Learn as you go. Even K50 can get you started as a shareholder.
