WHAT IS CHARACTER?
As we mentioned before, character is the inside of a person and is shown in their actions, mainly when under pressure.
We can define it as the sum total of your positive and negative characteristics that come to the surface in your daily walk. The true character of a person is revealed when
Circumstances, people, and problems bring pressure into his life. Take for example a woman who fell in love with a man. When they were dating, she and he were very sweet, kind and courteous, but when they got married, they started to have friction. When the pressure came, he exploded in anger, spoke bad words, among other things. This was the real character of that man from the beginning, but it came to the fore when he had conflicts with his wife. A person's character comes to the surface, when the pressure of life is upon him.
A person's character manifests itself in seven ways:
In thought- is when an individual frequently has bad thoughts and meditates on them. The word says that as a man thinks in his heart, so is he. “For what is his thought in his heart, so is he” Prov. 23.7
In values- values can be defined as something we do constantly and is based on the principles of the word. It is acting according to our beliefs and what we are inside.
In motivations- what motivates us to execute what we do, is born of character. If the motivation is wrong, it reflects who we are inside.
Attitudes- these are born of character. Both positive and negative. A negative or positive attitude is contagious. We must observe our attitude towards life.
-The feelings- we express the feelings through our character; sometimes we have bad feelings towards others.
Actions- Character is reflected by our actions toward God and others. Unlike charisma, which is a gift from God and we have nothing to do to develop it, character is not instantaneous. To have a good character, we have to die to our ego, to our image, to our dreams, to our own desires, crucify the flesh
