𝗖𝗨𝗥𝗥𝗜𝗖𝗨𝗟𝗨𝗠 𝗩𝗜𝗧𝗔𝗘 𝘝𝘚 𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗨𝗠𝗘
These two words are usually used interchangeably.
This therefore affects or mistakes how each is prepared and presented, which may affect your first impression and image.
In brevity observance, I want to help out clear the air so that you can understand what you will be giving us to do to make your CV or Resume standout.
𝖠 𝘊𝘶𝘳𝘳𝘪𝘤𝘶𝘭𝘶𝘮 𝘝𝘪𝘵𝘢𝘦 is a Latin word that means: 𝘊𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘴𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘓𝘪𝘧𝘦.
Therefore it is a document that expresses the profile of an individual, education (standard and tertiary education), career, job experience, Skills and hobbies among other features.
A CV can be used as a multi-purpose document regarding fields, industries or positions. It helps the reader or hiring manager determine your relevance at the company or organisation due to the wide information and details it expresses; that is if the applied-for position isn't vacant.
Usually, it is one or more pages. It is used for both random and specific applications and also for those people who only have skills and a bunch of assorted work experiences of interindustry and fields.
Meanwhile, a 𝘙é𝘴𝘶𝘮é is a French word that means: 𝘴𝘶𝘮𝘮𝘢𝘳𝘺.
I call this one a single-purpose CV; Because the resume summarises and concentrates on your profile (personal details), accomplishments, work experience, and skills with less regard to education background(unless if one is a new graduate with less experience), why is it so?
A resume is prepared by those who want to apply for a specific position, industry, organisation or company. Therefore, the content must be relevant to the job, position, industry or company one intends to apply to. For example, if you want to apply as a medical doctor, it will mean that the experiences, accomplishments, skills and education included must be related to medical 'doctorism'(wow; doctorism) because that's what the HR or company is searching for. The same applies if you're applying as an HR or sales manager or receptionist etc.
Mostly, people who can use a resume are those with qualifications or a form of trade and rarely accommodate our friends with a 𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘭 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬𝘦𝘳 reference.
Therefore, a resume is strictly one paged.
And at the end of the day, it's good to have both, one to be used for random applications (CV) and the other on a specific position of your career (Resume) especially those that are advertised accompanied by a good cover letter.
When we make you a CV, it's not just about the modern design, but also the content and structure that stands out to land you a job quickly. The same applies to the cover letter and resume.
