Slowly Becoming has been my tagline for two years now and if I am being honest I dont remember how it all began. But I assume it must have been birthed from a realization that we get moulded everyday through many life experiences, knowledge and skills acquired in the process of life.

I personally call my journey the process. The beautiful process of becoming.

A few weeks ago I had posted on my social media platforms (LinkedIn and Facebook) that I was willing to mentor individuals that were willing to sacrifice time and invest in knowledge acquisition. I initially thought maybe one or two people would be interested. But alas the response was overwhelming, I got responses even from Zambians living in the Diaspora as well. This really put me in a position to want to better myself and those around me because our destines are intertwined.

This coming week we will launch our first online sessions. The vision is to collaborate with other exceptional Entrepreneurs and see how far we can move as a people and young Entrepreneurs.

The slowly becoming iniative is an initiative that was birthed from a realization that desire in itself is not sufficient to conquer the Entrepreneurship journey or process. Specific knowledge and understanding is vital. I think my journey would have been much easier if knew some of the things I know now. And it's those same things I want my mentees and myself to identify and actualize.

The vision of the initiative is to mould a class of exceptional Entrepreneurs and business people whose work will impact the world at large through the right set of knowledge, values, experiences and skills.

The journey begins today

For our second meeting under the Slowly Becoming Initiative Mentorship program. We were graced with the presence of Mr Arnold Nyendwa. Mr Nyendwa is the CEO of AFNON, the inventor of the Juvin Eco Stove.

He was recognized as an African Icon by BET Africa alongside the likes of African Giants like Burner boy, Trevor Noah etc. He was the best male innovator of the year 2021 Black Impact United Kingdom and many other global awards.

Mr Nyendwa's story is that of consistency, tenacity and an example of what specific knowledge coupled with exposure can do for an Entrepreneur. He attributes most of his success to God and the brilliant team he works with.

Great Entrepreneurs are not made in a day, they slowly become.

No one is ever fully ready to start anything. But when you get an opportunity to start something just do it.

This was 10th January 2022. My partner and I started a business in January, with little knowledge on how it really works in the real world, we convinced ourselves it was now or never. I remember how the first few months were so hard because we had to juggle between doing our teaching practice and working at the store.

But where there is a will there is a way. Team work made the dream work. Today I just want to give thanks to everyone who supported us and believed in us.

The truth is that nothing is easy on Earth but if one can train their minds to see beyond pain and hardships, and focus on the small things that satisfy them about their journey the process becomes enjoyable.
