MORE CDF EMPOWERMENT GRANTS POUR INTO LUSAKA CENTRAL CONSTITUENCY

Lusaka Central Constituency has continued receiving its fair share of the increased Constituency Development Fund (CDF) with the latest being a total sum of K989, 300 disbursed to the Constituency.
Speaking this afternoon at the handover ceremony of the empowerment grants for the third and fourth quarter of 2022 at Nakatindi Hall at the Civic centre, Lusaka Central Member of Parliament and Minister of Justice, Hon. Mulambo Haimbe said K989, 300 was being disbursed to 25 groups. Hon. Haimbe disclosed that the money was meant for the youth, women's groups and community empowerment.
The area lawmaker revealed that about a year and some months ago, the CDF allocation for the entire year for the whole constituncy stood at K1.6 million while at present, the total amounts given only for youth, women and community empowerment had exceeded what was given over the past years.
Hon. Haimbe informed the gathering that beginning next year, 2023, the CDF allocation will be based on the constituency's capability, absorption and proof of using the money properly. He therefore appealed to the community to work as a team so that money is used prudently.
And speaking at the same event, Lusaka Central CDF Representative Delphine Nawa Chimuka said the people have a caring Member of Parliament in Hon. Mulambo Haimbe. Ms Chimuka said that the area lawmaker has on several occasions gone out of his way to ensure that people in his constituency enjoy the fruits of the New Dawn Government. Ms Chimuka advised the recipients and would be recipients to be innovative as money is there to support their innovations .
Representing the Lusaka City Mayor at the event, Lubwa ward Councillor Clement Milonga urged the successful applicants to put the funds to good use in order for them to generate profits and feed their families. He reminded the recipients that the funds received will also help create employment opportunities for other people within the community.
And a beneficiary of the empowerment fund, Inutu Phiri of Action Oriented Women Multipurpose Cooperative Society in Kabulonga ward thanked the New Dawn Government for awarding them with a grant of K40,000. Ms Phiri assured Hon. Haimbe that the money will be put to good use. She revealed that her cooperative intends to purchase land where it will venture into different clusters and value addition.
The event was attended by Kabulonga Ward Councillor, Silwizya ward councillor, Ketty Nanyangwe and residents of Lusaka central constituency.
