Sales is not a department. It is the business.
One of the biggest lessons I've learned about business is that making a sale is only part of the job.
The real job is keeping the pipeline moving.
Cash flow. Follow-ups. Payment terms. New prospects. Existing clients. Partnerships. Referrals. Proposals. Conversations.
You can have a great product or service, but if there is nobody moving through your pipeline, eventually the business feels it.
Sales is also about thinking beyond today.
The deal you close today pays today's bills.
The relationship you build today could create revenue six months from now.
The conversation you start today could become your biggest client next year.
And when cash is tight, sales becomes even more important.
You don't need to panic. You need to get back on the grind — make the calls, send the proposals, follow up, create offers and keep putting opportunities into the pipeline.
Because ultimately:
You don't build a business by making one sale. You build it by creating a system that continuously produces the next sale.
