PRESS STATEMENT

ROAD TRAFFIC ACCIDENT IN CHISAMBA AREA

December 23, 2025 – The Zambia Police Service has recorded a road traffic accident in Chisamba area in which seventeen (17) passengers sustained injuries.

The accident occurred on December 23, 2025, around 06:00 hours along the Great North Road.

The incident involved a Scania bus, registration number ABP 7797, operated by Victoria Bus Services, which was heading toward Kabwe from Lusaka.

Out of the sixty (60) passengers on board, forty-three (43) escaped unhurt, while seventeen (17), including a six-month-old infant, sustained injuries.

The injured passengers were rushed to Liteta Hospital, where five (5), including the infant, remain admitted, while twelve (12) have since been discharged after receiving medical treatment.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the driver lost control of the vehicle due to excessive speed, causing the bus to veer off the road and overturn.

The Zambia Police Service has since launched investigations into the incident and urges all road users to exercise caution, adhere to prescribed speed limits, and observe traffic rules to prevent similar occurrences.

Police in Lusaka have arrested a man for allegedly impersonating, as a certified lawyer.

Andrew Kosamu [also using the names Kiyumbi and Shadreck Andrew Mwanza] allegedly forged a title deed, an NRC, an agreement with ZAMRA while masquerading as a lawyer.

This was after he was reported to the Police by the Law Association of Zambia(LAZ) following investigations into his suspicious activities.

He is currently in custody at Kabwata Police station.

He has duped a lot of unsuspecting members of the public and ZAMRA is no exception as the Legal Counsel Tebubho Muliokela's names have been used in forgery of bogus immunity against prosecution by Andrew Kosamu.

LAZ is taking this issue very seriously as confirmed by Senior Counsel Wezi Mwandila of LAZ Regulatory Enforcement Committee.
