SALARY UPGRADE AFTER EARNING EXTRA QUALIFICATION.
Going to school for skills upgrade and earning extra qualification is another thing but salary upgrade depends on the availability of vacant and funded positions. It is very important to engage your HR department when it comes to training and which programs to go and do so that you dont come back and wait for so long before your are promoted, that results in frustrations. Having graduated with a higher qualification doesn’t automatically qualifies you for a salary upgrade or promotion immediately even though your qualification may be recognized administratively.
This is the reason why Government introduced the process of opening up positions for promotional purposes before every recruitment which is highly recommendable especially under the Ministry of Health, but there is a lot that needs to be done in other line Ministries like Education where a lot of Teachers have upgraded from Primary Teaching up to Masters level yet without any position upgrade. Some are clocking 5 to 10 years without recognition. If this can be given attention like in Health, its key to employee motivation which will result in quality service delivery.
Kindly note that in Government, Masters is not really a requirement but a personal achievement and an added advantage off-course.
