ZMA STAFF SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETE ISO 9001:2015 LEAD AUDITOR TRAINING
Staff drawn from various departments of the Zambia Metrology Agency (ZMA), a statutory body under the Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Industry, successfully completed a five-day Lead Auditor Training on ISO 9001:2015 — Quality Management Systems (QMS) — Requirements, facilitated by AZUTS Consultancy.
ISO 9001:2015 is the internationally recognized standard that sets out the requirements for a Quality Management System (QMS), enabling organizations to consistently provide products and services that meet customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements while enhancing customer satisfaction through effective system implementation and continual improvement.
The training equipped participants with a strong foundation in professional auditing principles, audit techniques, and best practices aligned with ISO 9001:2015 requirements. Through a combination of interactive learning and practical exercises, participants strengthened their competence in planning, conducting, reporting, and following up internal audits.
Special emphasis was placed on the interpretation and application of ISO 9001:2015 clauses in audit settings, the identification and documentation of conformities and nonconformities, and the conduct of audit simulations to build practical auditing confidence and capability.
The successful completion of this training represents an important milestone in strengthening internal audit capacity and supporting the continual improvement of ZMA’s Quality Management System.

During the month of February, AZUTS Consult facilitated a five-day ISO 9001 Implementation Training Workshop for the Zambia Metrology Agency (ZMA) aimed at strengthening the institution’s Quality Management System (QMS) and enhancing service delivery.

The training brought together management and staff from various departments and units to deepen their understanding of ISO 9001 requirements, practical implementation strategies, documentation, risk-based thinking, and continuous improvement processes.

This initiative reflects ZMA’s commitment to international best practices, operational excellence, and improved customer satisfaction as the Agency continues to strengthen its management systems and service performance.

ZMA Staff Attend Nine-Day Workshop to Develop Standard Operating Procedures ( SOP’s) facilitated by AZUTS Consult
Allow us to congratulate The Zambia Metrology Agency (ZMA) on a significant step to enhance its operational efficiency and service delivery by conducting a nine-day workshop aimed at developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for an Integrated Quality Management System.
The development of SOPs for the integrated system is part of ZMA's commitment to continuous improvement, compliance, and enhanced customer satisfaction.
Integrated Quality Systems include :
1. ISO 9001 – Quality Management System: This standard focuses on delivering consistent, high-quality services by improving processes and customer satisfaction.
2. ISO 45001 – Occupational Health and Safety: It provides guidelines for ensuring safe and healthy workplaces by preventing work-related injuries and promoting staff well-being.
3. ISO 14001 – Environmental Management System : This framework ensures environmental sustainability by managing resources responsibly, reducing environmental impact, and complying with relevant regulations.
Why Integration Matters?
Integrating these systems into a unified framework will allow ZMA to:
- Optimize resource usage and reduce duplication of efforts.
