21 June. Mark it, because ZRA isn't moving it for anyone.
Here's what most business owners don't realise: that provisional tax you've been paying in instalments all year, March, June, September, December, was only ever an estimate. 21 June is when ZRA checks your actual numbers against what you estimated.
If you underestimated, you owe a top-up. If you overestimated, you're due a refund or credit. Either way, this is the date that closes out your tax year.
Miss it, and it's not just a "we'll get to it later" thing. Late filing penalties kick in immediately, interest starts running on anything unpaid, and it can hold up your Tax Clearance Certificate down the line which becomes a problem the moment you need it for a tender, a loan, or a contract renewal.
The businesses that struggle most with this aren't the ones who forgot the date. They're the ones who left it until the last 2-3 days, then hit ZRA TaxOnline portal traffic and couldn't file in time anyway.
If your records aren't ready, the time to sort them out is now, not on the 20th.
