CALL FOR APPLICATIONS – DATA COLLECTORS
Indaba Agricultural Policy Research Institute (IAPRI), in collaboration with Khulisa Management Services, ICF Macro, Inc. and University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC) are implementing the Scaling Up Nutrition Learning and Evaluation (SUN LE) project through funding from the United States Agency for International Development. SUN LE provides survey, research, evaluation, and dissemination services to the GRZ Scaling Up Nutrition program and the USAID/Zambia Scaling Up Nutrition – Technical Assistance (SUN TA) activity which aim to reduce childhood stunting in Zambia.
SUN LE is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates to work on a short term basis as Data Collectors during the Baseline Survey planned from mid May 2019 to 6 July 2019. The survey will be implemented in 30 districts spread across all the 10 provinces.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Data Collectors will work under the supervision of Quality Controllers and the SUN-LE Senior Survey Team. The Data Collectors will be required to:
Become fully familiar with the survey instrument (questionnaire);
Participate in the sampling process to select respondents in the selected survey areas;
Collect field data from the selected respondents and enter the collected data into a software using a tablet.
Collaborate with other fieldworkers and field supervisors.
Be in the field until data collection is completed.
Be willing to work long hours, including evenings, weekends and as required for a short period of time.
Qualifications and skills
A minimum of a grade 12 certificate; A higher qualification in a nutrition or agriculture-related field will be an added advantage.
Ability to interview (read and speak) in the local language in the province in which the interviewer prefers to work;
participated in a similar survey preferably a survey using electronic data capture (such as tablets);
Ability to follow written instructions and read maps.
Selected candidates will be invited to sit for an aptitude test and only candidates who pass the test will be enrolled for a 7-day training before the field work.
