The "green season" also known as the "emerald season" is a dynamic and essential period that ensures the continued balance and biodiversity of Zambia's rich ecosystems. At Zedverts Fish And Wildlife Farm we have taken time to create an ecosystem that can sustain wildlife which once used to roam the areas long time ago. Took us alot of time to create the biodiverse ecosystem and it was definitely worth it. Life is always full of surprises, but nothing beats the amazing greenery during the Emerald Season. Rainfall provides essential benefits to Zambia's wildlife by replenishing water sources like our natural dambo at our farm, revitalizing habitats and driving the food chain. The onset of the "emerald season," transforms the landscape, which is crucial for the survival and breeding of diverse species.

The Chinese Goose is an international breed of domestic goose, known by this name in Europe and in North America. Unlike the majority of goose breeds, it belongs to the k**b geese, which derive from Anser cygnoides and are characterised by a prominent basal k**b on the upper side of the bill.

The Sebastopol is a breed of domestic goose, descended from the European Greylag goose. The Sebastopol is a medium-sized goose with long, white curly feathers. The feathers of the neck are smooth and sometimes greyish brown. Crosses have produced all-grey, buff, and saddle back variants. Feathers on the breast may be curly (frizzle) or smooth. The legs and shanks are orange and the eyes bright blue. Grey and buff coloured Sebastopol have brown eyes. On average, females produce 25-35 eggs per year. Though domesticated breeds of geese generally retain some flight ability, Sebastopols cannot fly well due to the curliness of their feathers and have difficulty getting off the ground. They need plenty of water to keep themselves clean, and to clean their sinuses. In German, they are called Lockengans or Struppgans, meaning "curl-goose" and "unkempt goose".

Ostriches are large flightless birds. They are the heaviest and largest living birds, with adult common ostriches weighing anywhere between 63.5kg and 145kg and laying the largest eggs of any living land animal. With the ability to run at 70 km/h, they are the fastest birds on land.

The Zambian Agama lizards are very dominant and aggressive. Males usually fight with other males. With agamas, their dominance in the group is determined through fights. A dominant male is brightly colored and this male enjoys the privileges of mating with females and also gets the best place to rest.
Agama lizards are Africa’s most dominant lizard species. They are ambush foragers and only spend 4% of their time moving. This involves an average of less than one movement in two minutes. Even though they are mostly stationary (42% on lateral branches, 35% on tree trunks and 23% on the ground) they can move extremely fast and are able to jump high when escaping. They are known to slowly change colour over-time either for dominance, camouflage or mating season.
