The International Migration Review Forum is the only global platform on safe, regular and orderly migration, where Member States can exchange experiences and shape cooperation across the
full migration agenda.

The works through a structured, periodic process in which Member States review implementation, discuss solutions, identify gaps, and agree on a forward-looking outcome that guides efforts for the next four years.

Strengthening SRHR‑HIV and Migration Health Programming in Eastern Province

The IOM 🇿🇲 in partnership with Save the Children and with support from the Kingdom of the Netherlands, is conducting capacity building workshop for health and non‑health service providers under the Knows No Borders (KNB) Phase II programme.

Participants from Katete, Chipata and Chanida are enhancing their technical and operational competencies in:
✅Migration health programming
✅SRHR and HIV rights
✅SGBV prevention and response
✅Mental health and psychosocial support
✅Policy advocacy and communication
✅Performance monitoring and results-based programming

The training aims to:
🔹 Promote evidence-based SRHR‑HIV and migration best practices
🔹 Strengthen legal and human rights literacy
🔹 Improve coordination and knowledge management across stakeholders
🔹 Drive inclusive service delivery for migrants, s*x workers and young vulnerable people

Through this initiative, IOM continues to improve health outcomes and community engagement in Zambia and across the Southern Africa region.

This week, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Zambia participated in the Regional Joint Cross-Border Meeting and Cholera Case Management and Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Training held in Lusaka and convened by the Africa CDC Southern Africa Regional Coordinating Centre. The engagement brought together representatives from ten Southern African Member States and a wide range of public health practitioners.

During the meeting, the IOM Chief of Mission delivered a keynote address emphasizing the importance of mobility‑sensitive health systems and stronger cross‑border collaboration to address shared public health risks. As she noted: “Cholera does not stop at a border post, wait for clearance, or respect jurisdiction. It travels the same routes people do.”

IOM remains committed to supporting Member States in strengthening preparedness, response capacities, and cooperation across borders ensuring no mobile population is left behind.

Water is at the heart of climate mobility. Climate change is forcing people to move, and water is central to why: too little water (drought), too much water (floods), or water that is unsafe due to salinity and pollution.

IOM stays beyond the immediate response, strengthening local systems, investing in infrastructure, and supporting governments to manage climate mobility and build resilience. Well-managed migration supports stability and trust.
