Position Title Human Resource Manager
Location Lusaka
Duties and responsibilities:
1. Take lead in collective bargaining activities and provide advisory services to senior management team concerning union matters
2. Developing and implementing best-practice HR process and operations with regard to organizational planning, performance management, recruiting, employee welfare, etc
3. Preparing contracts of employment for both permanent and fixed term contract workers.
4. Dealing with employee disciplinary issues (verbal warnings, written warnings, case hearings etc.)
5. Handling court cases (if the need arises).
6. Employee leave management including computation in collaboration with Accounts department
7. Periodic visits to all branches including out of town branches.
8. Harmonizing relations between different departments.
9. Able to perform administrative responsibilities.
10. Conversant with computerized payroll package (VIP payroll an added plus).
11. Develop and execute a recruitment strategy that ensure a proactive flow of quality candidates for positions in designated areas
12. Any other duties as maybe assigned
Knowledge, skills and abilities
1. Proven working experience as Human Resource Manager
2. People oriented and results driven
3. Ability to work independently with initiative to manage and meet deadlines
4. Demonstrable experience with HR metrics
5. Knowledge of HR systems and databases
6. Ability to maintain good working rapport with staff including external contacts
7. Excellent active listening, negotiation and presentation skills
8. In-depth knowledge of labor law and HR best practices
9. Relevant computer software skills, including MS Word, Excel and Power Point
10. Ability to travel to branch operations across the country, minimum of 35%
Qualifications and requirements
1. Bachelor’s degree with 3-5 years of relevant experience in human resource management, public administration or Diploma in human resource management with 6-10 years of experience
2. Ability to work alone & unmanaged and to work as part of a team when required
3. High motivation, sense of responsibility, self-discipline
4. Experience must reflect the knowledge, skills and abilities listed above
5. Strong communication and organizational skill
6. Member of ZIHRM
