Today's Lesson: The Significance of the God of Jacob
Scriptural Reading;
Exodus 3:6

THE INCREDIBLE ENCOUNTER OF A BLESSED BUT YET PROPERTYLESS JACOB
Genesis 28:20-22
20 And Jacob vowed a vow, saying, If God will be with me, and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat, and raiment to put on,
21 So that I come again to my father's house in peace; then shall the Lord be my God:
22 And this stone, which I have set for a pillar, shall be God's house: and of all that thou shalt give me I will surely give the tenth unto thee
JACOB PRESENTS HIS MOST IMPORTANT NEEDS ON EARTH.
3. DAILY BREAD AND RAIMENT FOR GOD'S CHILDREN
Genesis 28:20
And Jacob vowed a vow, saying, If God will be with me, and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat, and raiment to put on,

WHY DON'T WE HAVE ADEQUATE FOOD AND RAIMENT?
3. Pride, Arrogance, Foolishness and Lack of Common Sense
Genesis 42:1-2
Now when Jacob saw that there was corn in Egypt, Jacob said unto his sons, Why do ye look one upon another?
2 And he said, Behold, I have heard that there is corn in Egypt: get you down thither, and buy for us from thence; that we may live, and not die.
Why are some people and nations suffering today despite having access to more than enough? Its because of pride and arrogance. Jacob requested that God must give him bread to eat and not to sell and raiment to put on and and not to give foreigners. When Jacob realised that there was no bread anywhere around him, he refused to allow pride, arrogance, foolishness and lack of common sense to prevail in his life. He remembered the prayer he prayed the day he was running away from his brother.
Check up your life and see why you are lacking bread and raiment. You will notice that its because of Pride, Arrogance, Foolishness and Lack of Common Sense.
1. Pride
This makes you stay hungry especially when food is in the hands of those you have declared as enemies and inferior. When the ruling party has no money or land and God gives those into the hands of the opposition. You prefer starving to asking for help. Do you know that Israel was superior spiritually compared to pagan Egypt but at that time God thought it wise to give bread and raiment to the ungodly nation. Some Christians have died in poverty because they cannot see themselves going to get help from Egypt. You want to be holier than God. Stay in your poverty. I have unfortunately observed that many believers that l knew including those that are relatives for whatever reasons have chosen to cut communication with me. Egypt is there for a purpose and it is to humble saints.
2. Arrogance
This is displaying the attitude of being better than someone because of social status, academic achievements and past family status but with a zero bank balance. My friend your credentials will not feed you. You are a graduate but hungry. You refuse employment because the person offering you work is a grade twelve school lever. Is it money you want or maintaining you status with a zero balance? Arrogance is a killer
3. Foolishness
This is giving away food to your neighbor's children and leaving your house empty and in the end your children being reduced to beg from the neighbor's children. You give your mines and business rights with privileges to foreigners and in the end your citizens become beggars to the same foreigners. This is so sad.
4. Lack of Common Sense
Failure to apply the least reasoning capacity. You close your factories and super markets together with your bakeries and then call outsiders to come and open the same and using the same buildings. This is the Reason why Africa is suffering. You close textile industry and start buying second hand clothes including underwears. We are cursed and need deliverance.
This was the prayer of Jacob

You are indeed our God a forgiving father we keep our trust in thee .
