On 19th March 2025, the Zambia Tax Platform (ZTP) in partnership with Action Aid Zambia(AAZ), Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) Zambia Association of Manufacturers (ZAM), and the TaxEd Alliance, hosted a transformative Tax Awareness Workshop at Taj Pamodzi Hotel, Lusaka. The event brought together key stakeholders from government, civil society, academia and the private sector to discuss Zambia’s 2025 Tax Reforms and work towards equitable economic growth.

🎤 Keynote Address by ZRA Commissioner General Dingani Banda
The Commissioner General emphasized the need for enhanced Domestic Resource Mobilization (DRM) in light of fiscal challenges stating that Zambia’s economic stability depends on a fair, efficient and compliant tax system.
Panel Discussion on Tax Policy Effectiveness
A deep dive into current tax policies and the need for reforms that balance compliance with economic incentives to promote equity.
2025 Tax Reforms: Challenges and Opportunities
ZRA shared strategies to meet the K155.7 billion revenue target, with discussions around digital tax systems, anti-evasion measures, and solutions to potential challenges.
Private Sector Perspectives
Business leaders urged for simplified processes and less red tape to make tax compliance easier for the private sector.
Outcomes & Next Steps:
The workshop concluded with actionable recommendations, including boosting taxpayer education, prioritizing technology in tax administration, and establishing better feedback loops between civil society, businesses and ZRA.
