THE re-opening of schools countrywide has been deferred until further notice.

Minister of Health Dr Chitalu Chilufya said during a joint press briefing in Lusaka this evening that his ministry and the Ministry of General Education would only review the matter on January 30, 2018.

“As you are aware, we have had an outbreak of cholera from October 6, 2017 and it has affected mainly Lusaka Province and we have recorded sporadic cases in various parts of the country. As of today cumulatively, we have recorded a total of 2047 cases and Lusaka alone is accounting for 2000 cases. Cumulatively, we have recorded 50 deaths, with Lusaka accounting for 47 deaths. We have mounted a robust multi-sectorial approach involving various sectors and today we are holding a joint press briefing with one of the key sectors in the multi-sectorial response; that is the Ministry of Education and hence the presence of the Minister of General Education who at the same time is acting as Minister of Higher Education,” Dr Chilufya said.

“As part of the escalation of the response, I did issue Statutory Instrument N0. 79 of 2017 which evoked certain provisions of the Public Health Act to ensure that we spread of the outbreak and also prevent loss of life. This has also escalated the multi-sectorial response and in line with the presidential directive, we are strengthening our inter-sectorial collaboration. Today, we are discussing a key subject that is, the re-opening of schools at primary, secondary and tertiary level. So, we gather here today to make an announcement that the re-opening of schools at primary to tertiary level is being deferred countrywide country wide in order for us to monitor the evolution of the epidemic and we will review this decision on January 30, 2018.”

He said deferring the re-opening of the schools countrywide was to avoid many gatherings in various educational facilities.

“Remember that there are children who are coming from areas which we are describing as the e

Friday, 22nd December 2017

The Permanent Secretary;
The Council Chairperson, Examinations Council of Zambia;
Directors in the Ministry of General Education and the Examinations Council of Zambia;
Senior staff in the Ministry of General Education and the Examinations Council of Zambia
Members of the media present;
All protocols observed

Distinguished Ladies and Gentlemen,
1.1 The processing of the 2017 Grade 7 Composite Examination as well as Grade 9 Junior Secondary School Leaving Examination results has been successfully completed. The Ministry of General Education has also completed selecting the 2018 Grade eight (8) and Grade ten (10) learners.
1.2 You may recall that the 2016 Grade 7 Composite and Grade 9 results were released around this period of the year and enabled the Grade 8 and 10 pupils open at the same time with other returning learners. As a Ministry we are delighted with this trend because it does not only improve the teacher learner contact time in the year but also gives ample time for parents to plan.
Ladies and gentlemen, I will begin with the 2017 Grade 7 Composite Examination results,
1.3 A total of 400, 802 candidates entered for the 2017 Grade 7 Composite Examination of whom 201, 525(50.28%) were boys and 199, 277 (49.72%) were girls.

WHEN WE HAVE FAILED -What next??? We all have failed. We cringe at the very thought of it, and in comes that awful sting of regret, disappointment and that familiar question: "What next?" We feel that our life is over or that we are destined to remain in our same rut of failure. Remember that: "Winners never quit, Quitters never win."

*NAKED TRUTH*

One day, a school teacher wrote on the board the following:
*9×1=7*
*9×2=18*
*9×3=27*
*9×4=36*
*9×5=45*
*9×6=54*
*9×7=63*
*9×8=72*
*9×9=81*
*9×10=90*

When He was done, he looked back at the students and they were all *laughing at him because of the first equation which was wrong.*

Then the teacher said the following:
I wrote the first equation wrong on purpose, because I wanted you to learn *Something important.*

This was for you to know how the world out there will TREAT you!

You can see that I wrote the *RIGHT thing nine times*, but none of you congratulated me for it.

But you all laughed and criticized me because of *one wrong thing* I did.

*The lesson is:*
The world Will Never Appreciate the good you do *a million times*, but will Criticize the *one wrong thing* you do.
So don't Get Discouraged!

*ALWAYS RISE ABOVE ALL THE LAUGHTER AND CRITICISM.*
Don't *Look Up* to man; *look Up to God!*

The Examination Council of Zambia (ECZ) was created by Act of Parliament Number 15 of 1983. It is a semi-autonomous body and is given policy direction from the Ministry of General Education. ECZ is responsible for developing, administering, managing and processing national examinations at primary, junior secondary, school certificate and teacher education levels.
In 2014, the Ministry of General Education revised the school curriculum to incorporate practical aspects using the newly introduced vocational pathway, a complement to the traditional academic pathway. In line with good practices in educational assessment the world over, ECZ embarked on developing assessment schemes (examination syllabi) to align its examinations to reflect changes in the school curriculum. This is imperative in the learners, teachers and other stakeholders need to be well prepared in terms of what to expect, the duration of the examination and any other information critical to the examination.
As Mwengo's Professional & Academic Solutions (MP&AS), we are working in line with the goals set by the Ministry of General Education. Our goal is to give quick academic solutions to the learners and everyone at large.
