PROTECTING A BUSINESS IDEA

This is a very controversial topic.Many people say that you should be open about your ideas while many people try very hard to protect their ideas as much as possible.

As it sometimes happen in such situations,the truth is probably somewhere in between.

N.D.A(NON DISCLOSURE AGREEMENT)
An NDA is a legal document binding whoever signs it to not disclose to others what you disclose to them while telling them about your company.NDA agreements are effective to a point, but they also have a number of loopholes and ways to side-step the agreement.

Essentially, they do offer a thin layer of protection.But they do have a downside.
Making people sign a DNA documents can irritate people. It also costs time and money to craft the document.You can be using that time and money to actually build your business. Another disadvantage of NDA documents is that many people simply refuse to sign them.Many investors ,for example, never sign NDA documents simply because they see too many companies and cannot put themselves under such restrictions due to the needs of their work.And lastly,to enforce your NDA agreement, you actually have to litigate,which is not a very simple thing to do.

COMMON BUSNESS IDEA MISTAKES

If you think about it,some very unusual busness ideas have worked in the past.Conversely,it often happens that very common business ideas do not work.There are a few key reasons like overall strategy, Positioning, Marketing,Degree of hard work, Perseverance, Availability of resources, Timing,Product quality, Market and economic conditions, and much more.

As an example, consider a very common type of business: a restaurant, Many restaurant have been successful in the past,while many have also failed.
There are many things that have to go right starting from the planning stage.
For example, if the restaurant is in an area where there are not many people passing by, it will be difficult and costly to aquire new customers. If food is not great or too expensive for it's quality, the restaurant will not have repeat customers.
There are many things that can go wrong. The staff maybe unfriendly. The economy might be weak ,The busness can run out of money 🤑 before it breaks even. Or the founder did not have enough knowledge or experience in the industry which caused too many mistakes to be made along the way.

So to make this kind of business successful,the founder has to make sure that as many of these issues can play in there favor than hurt them.

MISMATCH OF BUSNESS TO FOUNDER

Different people have different strengths. The founder does not have to posses all the call skills that the busness requires. But together the nucleus of the founding team does have to posses the core skills required by a business.

For example, internet/tech businesses typically require the founding teams to have a tech background. Food related business require culinary or hospitality industry background, some business need to raise a lot of money while others need to get a lot of publicity.
The founding team must have a lot of skills for whatever the busness will require.

If that is not the case, that will make the busness more of an uphill.

Many people whant to start a business,but don't know where to start or what might be a good business to get into.

This article has a number of business strategies to help you come up with a business idea that is right for you.

Keep in mind, ideas that might work for one person may not be suitable for others.

Success depends highly on the skills, strengths, motivation, ambitions, hard work, abilities of the entrepreneur, and a number of other factors.

KNOW YOUR STRENGTHS

It is wise to first think about your personal and professional strengths. Are you an engineer who can build high quality technical products? Are you good at sales? Are you well- connected? Are you patient? Are you less patient than others? Are you a leader, or do you feel that you can be a great leader? Do you have a high moral and ethical I.Q? Whatever your strengths are, whenever you think about what kind of business are right for you,try to align your strengths so that your unique background can give your venture the most competitive edge.

Conversely, try to minimize your weaknesses. For example, if you are not technical, do not rush into business that require a lot of technical aptitude and skills. That does not mean you should be discouraged. It just means you should think through it a bit more thoroughly. Additionally, many business require substantial upfront capital. If you are not wealth, and are not able to raise high amounts of capital, those businesses may not be suitable for you to start with. You can be successful in them eventually. But it may benefit you to consider how you can grow into them out of something that is financially feasible for you to start with.

The great news is that every one has strengths,so everyone can find a niche where they can give there business a competitive advantage. If you play to your strengths, you can give yourself a much higher chance to ultimately succeed.
