A business is so much similar to us human beings. just like a human being, a business gets born, it grows, it sometimes gets sick, it grows old and it also dies. For a human being to grow properly, time and resources are invested in making sure that he or she is properly guided and when he/she gets sick, proper medical care is administered. Similarly to succeed in business, business owners need to make sure that the business is given the necessary time and resources it needs. When it encounters challenges (in a sense getting sick) immediate help needs to be found and proper solutions implemented to get it back on track. Otherwise if left without care, the business will slowly deteriorate and eventually die. We need to remember that starting a business is not an end in itself, it is the beginning of the entrepreneurial journey. It needs deliberate actions by the owner to keep it going. So make strategic partnerships, find a business coach/ mentor, and just like we often identify a hospital or private clinic we go to when sick, you also need to establish a long-term relationship with individuals or a firm where you can go to seek solutions when you think your business is about to get into trouble or when you are not sure of what to do or just to have someone cross check your strategies or ideas. Remember a business should outlive its founders. To make this happen, you need to work with others put systems in place to ensure your business continues even after you are long gone.
