[ PHOTO FILE ] PLEASE TALK TO OUR ZAMBIAN DRIVERS DRIVING THROUGH CONGO.

I'm a truck driver, I have worked in Congo for 25 years now. We all know that Congo is a country of war a very dangerous country not only to the foreigners but even to the Congolese themselves. Let us not just be blaming the Congolese without knowing the root cause. Us Zambians and other foreign drivers we are making big mistakes when we are driving in Congo.

(1) Driving at Night, in Congo it is very dangerous to drive at night but you will find our drivers driving till late. There many safe truck parks in Congo were you can park the truck during the night. In Zambia all the truck around 21 hours doesn't move they are parked until 04hrs that's when the start moving

(2) Parking anywhere someone feels like parking, you will find that fellow drivers parking at any village they find along the main road and spend a night and when he is killed we start blaming the Congolese.

(3) If the truck develop a fault at a point which is not safe leave the truck and find a safe place to report a case to your company, your life is not worth the truck and the goods you are carrying.

THE RUMOURS OF RICHES

On a Tuesday morning, Bwalya received a call from a friend in Kasumbalesa.

“Goats are selling at K3,000 here,” the friend said.

Excited, Bwalya quickly found transport, loaded 20 goats, and headed to the border, expecting a strong profit.

After an overnight journey, he arrived at the market and met buyers. But the first offer shocked him.

“K1,500 per goat,” the buyer said. “Prices dropped two days ago. The market is full.”

With transport already paid and no time to turn back, Bwalya had little choice but to sell at a loss — all based on information that was already outdated.

Don't be a Bwalya, relying on rumors is a costly gamble!

Quikways helps traders connect directly with buyers, agree on prices, and confirm demand before moving goods.
