KNOWLEDGE AND COMPASSION HAVE SAVED THE LIFE OF AN INNOCENT BIRD

We found this beautiful creature inside the house early this morning. Still not sure how it got in overnight, especially with fly screens in place. My farm workers immediately panicked: “A witch! A witch! Let’s kill it!”

But as a conservationist, I couldn’t allow harm to come to an innocent animal, likely just searching for food to survive out in the bush.

Sometimes fear makes us forget that we share this world with other living beings. So instead, we chose compassion. We carefully handled it… and let it fly back to where it belongs.

Not everything we don’t understand is a threat. Sometimes, it’s just nature passing through.
