CONGRATULATIONS!

YOU ARE OFFICIALLY A 2014 TECH-I SEMI-FINALIST!

Let me take this opportunity to congratulate you once again and to inform you that your video and executive summary are now available online for voting.

You can visit the voting platform at www.aaas.org/tech-i/vote. Additionally, in the document attached you will find your name with a unique web address for voting. This web address will direct people straight to your application (without searching through the full gallery of applications) and allow them to vote and share your video with other friends and colleagues.

Based on the results of the public vote and your expert panel score, 30 semi-finalists from the selected 67 (of which you are 1) will progress to the Finals in Morocco. You therefore need to get as many people as possible to vote for you. Voting is based on a 5 star system so your final star count, in addition to the number of people who voted for you, will both count towards you becoming a finalist. Remember, you can only vote on each application once per day, so you are going to need to recruit as many friends and family members as possible.

To help you promote yourself as a semi-finalist, please visit www.aaas.org/tech-i/voting_toolkit where you will find posters and images which you can share with the world.

Here at AAAS, we will be in touch throughout September providing you with new promotional images and information for you to share with your networks in addition to voting information and statistics. Finally, if you notice any problems or have any concerns with the software or your online application, please let us know and we will get it fixed as soon as possible.

COMPETITION UPDATE

The AAAS Tech-I team would like to congratulate the 66 Semi-Finalists selected to progress on to public voting. Further details regarding the semi-finalists can be found online.

We would also like to take this opportunity to congratulate everyone who participated.

This year Tech-I received a record 502 applications! This made the job of the expert panels exceptionally difficult since we had such an amazing number of applications! If you were unfortunately not selected to be a semi-finalist and would like to receive feedback on your score following the expert panel review, please contact us via email at [email protected] and we will be happy to provide this.

On behalf of AAAS and the United States Department of State, we are pleased to inform you that you have been selected to be a GIST TECH-I 2014 SEMI-FINALIST.

Your application was reviewed by a panel of experts and they loved your idea and your video.

The next stage of the competition is the global public voting phase in which you will need to get as many people as you know to vote on your application to give you the best possible chance of winning an all-expenses paid trip to the Finals on 18th – 21st November in Marrakech, Morocco. Voting begins on Monday September 1st and more details will follow this email including a semi-finalist pack-up which includes graphics and posters which you can use to promote yourself and get as many people to vote for you as possible!

If you would like to continue in the competition and enter the public voting portion of the competition, please reply to this email NO LATER THAN SUNDAY AUGUST 31st confirming your continued participation.
