If you are serious about growing your business, compliance is not optional.
Every business with a physical operating facility will eventually have government institutions knocking at the doorstep whether it is the Zambia Revenue Authority or your local Municipal Council.
The question is not if they will come.
The question is: 𝘞𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘣𝘦 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘺?
One of the biggest challenges SMEs face is not compliance itself it is the lack of proactive engagement with compliance offices. Many entrepreneurs see regulators as business deterrents. In reality, they are institutional partners in your growth journey.
Yesterday, during our 𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐒𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐂𝐨𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝟑, we encouraged entrepreneurs to build relationships with these offices early. Create correspondence. Ask questions. Seek clarification. Introduce your business before problems arise.
Even if you are unable to fully meet your compliance obligations, do not avoid the offices. Visit them. Have a conversation. Officers are more receptive when you are transparent about your situation. In many cases, structured arrangements or part payments toward annual subscriptions can be discussed.
Compliance should not be a pain it should be a strategy.

Let us normalize compliance as a strategic business practice not a forced obligation.
