As a youth-led waste management and environmental enterprise, our team used the opportunity not only to learn, but also to observe, engage, network and understand how the private sector can contribute to the development of young people.
For us, events such as Scholastica demonstrate that companies can do more than promote their products and services. The private sector can mentor students, demonstrate practical skills, expose young people to different career pathways, provide work-related learning opportunities, identify future talent and inspire innovation. ZITF highlights these connections between industry and learners as an important part of Scholastica.
We were particularly inspired by the practical demonstrations and opportunities to interact with organisations working in different fields. As Dynamic Waste Management, we believe there is also a strong opportunity to expose young people to careers in the green economy, waste management, recycling, environmental protection and climate innovation.
Education gives young people knowledge, but meaningful engagement with industry can help them understand how to apply that knowledge in the real world.
We are grateful for the opportunity to learn, connect and reflect on how businesses can become partners in developing the next generation of skilled, innovative and environmentally responsible young people.
