The Recycling Value Chain Explained

♻️ 1. Waste Generation
Everything starts here households, businesses, markets.
This is where value is lost or preserved depending on how waste is handled.

🚛 2. Collection
Waste must be gathered efficiently.
Poor collection systems = contamination, higher costs, and lost value.

🧤 3. Sorting
Materials are separated (plastic, paper, metal, organic).
This is where quality is determined and profits begin.

📦 4. Aggregation
Sorted waste is grouped in bulk to meet volume requirements for buyers.
Without this stage, small collectors can’t access real markets.

🏭 5. Processing
Waste is transformed washed, shredded, melted, composted.
Now it becomes a resource, not waste.

🏗️ 6. Manufacturing
Recycled materials are turned into new products.
This is where the real economic value is captured.

It’s a value chain business.

♻️ FIRST DAY OF WASTE BUY-BACK IN MASVINGO ♻️

Today marked an important milestone for Mckingtorch Zimbabwe as we officially conducted our first waste buy-back day at the Masvingo Recycling Hub.

The hub was a hive of activity as community members arrived with sorted recyclable materials, exchanging waste for cash and turning what was once discarded into real economic value. 💚💰

This initiative, implemented in partnership with the City of Masvingo, forms part of the city’s waste recovery and environmental protection programme. Together, we are demonstrating that waste is not just an environmental challenge but a resource that can drive livelihoods and a thriving green economy.

🗓️ Waste buying will take place every Monday, creating a consistent and reliable market for recyclables.

Residents and businesses are encouraged to:
• Separate recyclable materials at source
• Participate in the buy-back programme
• Contribute to a cleaner, healthier Masvingo

📢 MASVINGO, THE FUTURE OF RECYCLING STARTS HERE! ♻️

The City of Masvingo, in collaboration with Mckingtorch Zimbabwe, is officially launching a buy-back recycling program starting 1 February 2026.

Residents can now turn waste into income by selling:
✅ Aluminium cans
✅ HDPE plastics
✅ PP plastics (lids )
✅ PET plastics (clear bottles)
✅ Cardboard boxes

💚 Clean and sorted materials are preferred.
📍 Collection points and rates will be announced soon.
