HOW TO UPDATE YOUR CCTV DATE & TIME
1. Log in to your DVR/NVR
Connect your CCTV recorder to a monitor/TV and use the mouse to access the main menu.
2. Open System Settings
Go to Menu → System → Date & Time. The exact wording may differ depending on the CCTV brand.
3. Set the correct Time Zone
Select the time zone for your location. For Zimbabwe, use GMT/UTC +2.
4. Set the correct Date
Make sure the day, month and year are correct.
5. Set the correct Time
Enter the current time and choose your preferred format, such as 24-hour format.
6. Enable NTP / Automatic Time Sync
If your CCTV system is connected to the internet, enable NTP (Network Time Protocol) so the recorder can automatically keep its clock accurate.
7. Save/Apply the settings
Click Save, Apply or OK, depending on your system.
8. Check the timestamp on your cameras
Go back to the live view and confirm that the date and time displayed on the footage are correct.
⚠️ IMPORTANT
Avoid changing the date/time unnecessarily while the system is recording, because changing the recorder's time can affect how previously recorded footage is timestamped and searched.
