*1. STCW Certificate*
_Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers_
This is an international maritime qualification regulated by the IMO [International Maritime Organization]. It covers:
- Personal Survival Techniques
- Fire Prevention & Fire Fighting
- Elementary First Aid
- Personal Safety & Social Responsibilities
- Security Awareness
*Why it’s important:* No person can legally work on a commercial vessel without STCW. Cruise lines, port authorities, and flag states will reject any crew without valid STCW. It ensures you can respond to emergencies at sea.
*2. IOCMC Certificate*
_International Occupational Catering & Medical Certificate_
This covers food safety, hygiene, and basic medical care standards for crew working in catering, galley, housekeeping, and medical departments.
*Why it’s important:* Cruise ships are inspected under MLC 2006 and USPH standards. IOCMC proves you’re trained to handle food safely and maintain health standards for 2000+ passengers/guests. Required for galley, bar, restaurant, housekeeping, and medical staff.
