*What is QPD?*
QPD stands for Quarterly Payment Date. It's a payment schedule set by the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) for businesses to pay their taxes.

*Who pays QPD?*
Every registered operating entity in Zimbabwe is required to pay QPD. This includes:

- Every company, partnership, trust, and individual operating a business

In essence, any entity that is registered with ZIMRA and is operating a business in Zimbabwe is obligated to pay QPD.

*When are QPD payments due?*
QPD payments are due on the following dates:

- 25th March (1st QPD) 10%
- 25th June (2nd QPD) 25%
- 25th September (3rd QPD) 30%
- 20th December (4th QPD) 35%

*What happens if a business fails to pay QPD?*
If a business fails to pay QPD, it may face penalties, fines, and interest on the outstanding amount. It's essential for businesses to prioritize QPD payments to avoid these consequences.

*How can businesses benefit from paying QPD?*
Paying QPD on time can benefit businesses in several ways:

- Avoid penalties and fines
- Reduce interest on outstanding tax liabilities

*7 Compelling Reasons to Register Your Company*

Registering your company is a crucial step in establishing a strong foundation for your business. Here are seven key benefits that highlight the importance of company registration:

1. *Protect and Secure Your Business Name*: Registering your company safeguards your business name, preventing others from using it. This protects your brand identity and reputation, enabling you to build a unique and recognizable brand.

2. *Unlock Tender Opportunities*: By registering your company, you become eligible to participate in government and private sector tender processes. This opens up avenues for securing contracts and driving business growth.

3. *Access Funding Opportunities*: A registered company is more attractive to investors, lenders, and other funding sources. Registration demonstrates professionalism, stability, and transparency, making it easier to access funding.

4. *Limit Your Liability*: Registering a limited company limits the risk to the amount of equity taken up. This means your personal assets are protected in case the business incurs debts or liabilities.

5. *Reduce Tax Liability*: Registered companies may benefit from lower tax rates compared to unregistered businesses. This can help reduce your tax burden and increase profitability.

6. *Establish a Formal Structure*: Registration formalizes your business, providing a clear structure and hierarchy. This helps establish roles, responsibilities, and accountability, making it easier to manage and grow your business.

7. *Ensure Business Continuity*: A registered company can continue to operate even if the owner or key personnel leave or pass away. This ensures business continuity, protecting your legacy and the interests of stakeholders.

By registering your company, you can reap these benefits, safeguard your business, and set yourself up for success.

*Important Notice: Company Re-Registration Process in Zimbabwe*

In accordance with the new Companies and Other Business Entities Act (Chapter 24:31), all companies registered prior to March 2024 are required to undergo a re-registration process. This process is mandatory.

*Reasons for Re-Registration:*

1. *Legal Compliance*: Ensure your company adheres to the current legal framework, avoiding potential legal issues.
2. *Continued Operations*: Prevent deregistration or company strike-off.
3. *Updated Company Information*: File annual returns to update your company's information.
4. *Protection of Business Identity*: Safeguard your business identity and reputation.
5. *Enhanced Credibility*: Demonstrate compliance and credibility to stakeholders.

*Key Considerations:*

- The deadline for re-registration has not been announced yet.
- Ensure all annual returns are up-to-date.
- Annual returns referred to are those filed at the Companies Office, not ZIMRA.
- Annual returns are submitted once a year, 21 days after the company's anniversary or the last date of annual returns submission.
