For every job posting that gets 100+ applicants, there are probably 2 people who find a connection to the hiring manager. They are the ones who get the interview. Don’t be one of the 100; be one of the 2.

Saddest truth about employment is that many people find themselves in jobs they don't enjoy or feel fulfilled by, simply because they need to earn a living and support themselves or their families.

I pray that God will realign your career path to one that brings you joy and fulfillment. Keep your head up and know that better opportunities are on the horizon. You deserve to wake up every day excited about the work you do. May you have the courage to explore your interests and talents, and may you have the strength to take bold steps towards a career that truly resonates with your soul.

Dear Jobseekers,

If you are searching for a job, you must define exactly what you want. Please stop this I can do anything mentality. This mentality is one of the reasons you are still having no job offer.

Define what you want and go for it. Employers are not looking for someone who can do everything but are looking for a person who is good at doing something.

Eliminate the thought that you have to be perfect before you apply for a position. No one expects you to be perfect before the hire you. That's why all companies have a form of training for their new employees.

Endeavor to have some knowledge and experience on the kind of job you want. You can acquire this through trainings and short courses. Be open to volunteer so as to get even if its 3 months experience. 3 months is better than nothing.

Network with people in that area of specialty you are interested in because no man is an island. You offer may depend on the word of another person in your network.

Most importantly, as a job seeker you are your own lawyer and the HR are the judge. You have to speak confidently and present your facts (diplomas, short courses, and trainings etc) as you really want to win the case.

Every chance you get to be interviewed by an HR is a chance for you to defend yourself as a lawyer does in a court room. Your fate lies in your hands. The manner you defend your case will determine if you win or loose the case.

In case of loosing, instead of lamenting and cursing the HR, buckle up, lift your shoulders high and be determine to learn from every experience because there's always something to learn about.

Don't give up on your goal because you will be tempted too but in such cases, kindly look for the purpose you wanted the job not the object.

Good Morning Jobseekers,

I would like to share my personal observation of the job market.

The current job market heavily favors companies due to the surplus of applicants. For instance, I've seen positions on LinkedIn receive over 200 applications within just a few hours. With such a large pool of candidates to choose from, companies now have the luxury of finding individuals who match a higher percentage of job requirements, often around 80%+. Consequently, applicants are facing more rigorous interview processes, often involving multiple rounds with different teams and challenging technical questions.
Furthermore, initial call screenings appear to be swift, direct, and somewhat less formally professional compared to the past. Some have encountered a few brief conversations like the following:

"Hello, are you...?"
"Yes, I am."
"Did you apply for...?"
"Yes, I did."
"Do you have... (list of required skills)?"
"I have this, but I don't have that..."
"In that case, it will not work. Thank you, and goodbye."

It is important to note that these changes in the hiring landscape require job seekers to adapt. However, I firmly believe in the principle of perseverance and taking proactive steps to seek out opportunities.

As the biblical passage states, "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you" (Matthew 7:7-8).

So, let's stay determined and never give up.

New Year, New Job: Should you wait till January?

December has been labeled as a “slow time” for job seekers and recruitment. Why?

For starters, there seems to be a consensus that mass hiring happens in January & February. By comparison, December is a slow(er) hiring season. Attributed to people being on holiday, spending more time with their families, and generally wrapping up the year.

*Yet, here are some reasons why you should apply in December:*

✅Expanding your network is always a good step in finding new opportunities.
✅Fewer people applying in December = less competition. This means your application is more likely to stand out and catch recruiter's attention. So capitalize this and apply for new positions you're qualified for as soon as you see a new vacancy.
✅Job hunting in December can set the tone for January
✅Hiring needs don’t magically stop in December.

The truth is you can get a job in any month, at any time. And you only need one job, right?

If you put your job search on hold now, you could miss out incredible opportunities.

It's time to job search. Don't wait until festive period is over to start job hunting.
