Africa has been heavily affected by the HIV/AIDS epidemic, with a significant number of people living with HIV in many African countries. Sub-Saharan Africa has been the most affected region, accounting for the majority of new HIV infections and AIDS-related deaths worldwide.
The distribution and prevalence of HIV vary across different countries and regions within Africa. Some countries have higher HIV prevalence rates than others. For example, countries like Eswatini (formerly Swaziland), Lesotho, and Botswana have had some of the highest HIV prevalence rates in the world.
