Here are 10 critical inverter settings every solar installer should understand:
1. BATTERY TYPE
This setting tells the Inverter the type of battery that's installed. Always select the correct battery type eg (Lithium, AGM, Gel, or Flooded ). Using the wrong battery profile can lead to poor charging and reduced battery lifespan.
2. BATTERY CHARGING VOLTAGE
This determines how much voltage the inverter sends to the battery during charging. If it's too low, the battery won't charge fully. If it's too high, the battery may be damaged over time.

3. MAXIMUM CHARGING CURRENT
This controls how fast the battery charges. Setting it too high can stress the battery, while setting it too low may result in slow charging.

4. LOW BATTERY CUT-OFF VOLTAGE
This is the voltage at which the inverter stops discharging the battery. It protects the battery from deep discharge, which is one of the biggest causes of premature battery failure.

5. SOURCE PRIORITY
This determines where the inverter should draw power from first—Solar, Battery, or Grid. Proper configuration helps maximize solar energy utilization and reduce electricity bills.
6. OUTPUT VOLTAGE & FREQUENCY
Default settings are 230V and 50Hz. Incorrect settings can affect the performance of some modern appliances because of their sensitivity.
7. MAXIMUM GRID CHARGING CURRENT
If the inverter can charge batteries from the grid, this setting controls the charging rate. It is particularly important when charging from generators to avoid overloading them.

8. BATTERY EQUALIZATION
This setting is mainly for flooded lead-acid batteries and helps reduce sulfation.
It should be disabled for lithium batteries. ✍🏽
9. AC INPUT VOLTAGE RANGE
This setting determines how sensitive the inverter is to unstable grid voltage. A wider range can reduce unnecessary switching during periods of voltage fluctuation.
10. BATTERY-TO-GRID TRANSFER VOLTAGE
This determines when the inverter should switch from battery power to grid power and when it should return to battery operation. Proper settings help prevent unnecessary battery cycling.
