Start by confirming the company and the payment period. You can then contact the appointed transfer secretary through the correct enquiry channel. If FTS is handling the register, our team can check the relevant record and advise on the next step. Keep your bank details, identity documents and shareholder references private. Do not place them in public comments

What Happens to Your Shares When You Pass Away? A Simple Guide

It is not easy to think about, but planning ahead protects your loved ones.

If you have a will:
Your shares go to the people you named as beneficiaries. The executor you appointed manages the transfer.

If you do not have a will:
Your shares become part of your estate. The Master of the High Court appoints an administrator. Distribution follows intestacy laws (spouse, children, family).

The process:

1. Executor/administrator notifies FTS
2. Required documents are submitted (death certificate, will or letters of administration)
3. FTS verifies the documents
4. Shares are transferred to beneficiaries
5. Beneficiaries receive their inheritance
