*Understanding your Poultry: Appearance of droppings in Chicken and possible solution*

* Yellow and Foamy dropping ~ Early stage of Coccidiosis.

* Dropping with blood ~ Coccidiosis late stages (very dangerous).

* Greenish dropping ~ late stage of worms, ND Newcastle Disease, eaten not well dry materials or eaten a lot of green vegetables if free-ranged., fowl cholera.

* White, Milky running droppings ~ worms, gumboro disease (Infectious bursal disease) IBD.

* Brown runny droppings ~ E.coli infection.

* Black dropping ~ possibility of internal bleeding or too much of proteins.

* Clear or watery running drooping ~ stress or infection bronchitis

*SOLUTIONS*

For Coccidiosis early stages use weak antibiotics eg Amprolium, Amprococ
If in late stages(visible blood stain) then adopt strong antibiotics eg ESB3(30)

NB: Please don't use strong antibiotics in issues that can be solved be weak antibiotics. Resistance is Real in poultry.

To deworm ~ Ivermectin based drugs.

For Newcastle disease (ND or NCD), Infectious Bursal Disease (IBD), Gumboro vaccine and Fowl Typhoid it is advisable we prevent by respective vaccinations.

Look into possible stress causes within your farm including sudden feeds change and intrusion. You can also put your flock on multivitamin for compensation.

[1/7, 12:23] ZIGY'S CHICKENS: *Egg eating in laying chicken is caused by a number of factors that are discussed below

Much as its a farmer in group 1 of poultry dealers forum that asked, sharing may benefit another farmer from this forum.

So,lets,look at the causes:

*1. The strength of the egg shell.*

Eggs easily break and get eaten by other birds if the shell is very soft. Remember birds lay while squating! So it a soft shelled egg is layed, then automatically it will have to break. So other birds will eat it very first.

Calcium makes the egg shell. Poor quality calcium source leads to soft shells. Poor calcium metabolism leads to soft shells. So you need to give enough calcium in feed, of the best quality, and add sangromix Active D for better calcium metabolism and better shell quality

*2. Number of laying boxes and where they are placed.*

Many times when you enter the poultry house you find that the birds prefer one laying box that the other.
Many birds push themselves in one laying box. Causing lots of damages during laying.

At times a bird may lay an egg off the Laying box causing damage.

They prefer that specific Laying box because:

-the laying boxes were not placed properly in the house. Some of them are so much exposed to light.

- the Laying boxes are not enough!

-some laying boxes are darker than the others.

Solution: put enough laying boxes in the house, place them well, construction of darker laying boxes

*3. Frequency of egg picking.*

Birds like to lay where they find eggs already layed. They use their beaks to pull the eggs under their breast feathers.

As they try to put the eggs under the feathers, they may injur them.

Even when they enter in the laying box, their nails are so sharp to an extent of piercing or breaking into the eggs.

You must increase the times of picking eggs, 4 to 5 times a day to avoid un necessary damages caused by birds themselves.

*4. Bedding in the laying boxes.*

As already discussed, birds lay when they

[10/17, 09:17] +263 78 378 1484: UNDERSTANDING YOUR CHICKEN DROPPINGS:

One secret of successful poultry farming is the ability of the farmer to monitor the chickens’ droppings and distinguish the normal from abnormal.

This is one way you can have early insight into potential health and wellness problems among your chicken, and it will also help acquaint you with what normal dropping looks like so you don’t overreact to small changes.

What we consider “normal” chicken dropping can vary by the birds, by the time of year, or by diet.

BELOW ARE DIFFERENT APPEARANCES OF FAECES IN CHICKEN AND THEIR MEANINGS:

1. YELLOW AND FOAMING DROPPING: This is a sign of early stage of Coccidiosis

2. DROPPING WITH BLOOD: This is a confirmed Coccidiosis.

3. GEENISH DROPPING: This could be late stage of worms, New Castle Disease, and fowl cholera/typhoid. It could also be a signal that they ate not well dried feed or lot of green vegetables.

4. WHITE MILKY RUNNING DROPPING: This indicates Worms, Gumboro disease (Infectious Bursal Disease-IBD)

5. BROWN RUNNING DROPPING: Confirmed E.coli Infection

6. BLACK DROPPING: There is possibility of internal bleeding or too much of proteins

7. CLEAR OR WATERING RUNNING DROPPINGS: This is Infectious Bronchitis or Stress.
[10/17, 09:17] +263 78 378 1484: HERBS WHICH ARE ESSENTIAL FOR CHICKEN?

Plant materials which are succulent but not hairy and which are proven to have appreciable nutrients can be used. Examples of such herbs include:

●PAWPAW LEAVES: When dried they contain 70 % crude protein. They can be dried, crushed and mixed with poutlry feeds. The leaf extracts also contain anthelminthic property which is an effective poultry dewormer.

●GINGER: It has been proven to contain effective antibiotic and antiviral traits. It can be used as an alternative in treatment of coccidiosis disease.

●GARLIC: it is an effective antibiotic, it can be served to chicken in whole or mixed with ginger.

●ALOEVERA: The liquid juice from aloe ver
