One of the biggest challenges during the brooding period is finding the right balance between keeping chicks warm and providing adequate ventilation.

While it's important to retain heat, completely closing up the brooder can lead to poor air quality, excess moisture, ammonia build-up, and respiratory problems. On the other hand, too much ventilation can create cold drafts that stress chicks and affect growth.

✅ Keep the brooder warm
✅ Allow fresh air to circulate
✅ Prevent direct drafts on chicks
✅ Monitor chick behaviour regularly

Healthy chicks need both warmth and fresh air to thrive. The correct balance will improve growth rates, reduce mortality, and set your flock up for success.
