Over 50 organizational representatives as well as external and internal individuals from all the country’s provinces attended the 3rd Smile Action International (SAI) annual awards ceremony held in Midlands at Gweru Hotel on 23 October, the same day the organization commemorated United Nations day and it’s annual general meeting.
These annual awards are meant to recognize corporates and local community leaders who are making a difference to empower and support persons with disabilities selflessly.
Among the community leaders honoured by SAI is the Ambassador for Disability at African Union Disability Council (AU-DC a member of African Union Youth Clubs), Nyasha Nhau who is also the Head of Disability at Zimbabwe Young Ambassadors and a journalist, for his tireless work in championing disability issues through the media.
Speaking to *NTU News Zimbabwe,* Tatenda Mamina who is the SAI operation director said “Nhau is a dedicated young man when it comes to disability issues and despite his tight schedules he always trying to accommodate his fellow brothers and sisters with disabilities whenever they need his services.
“He does not only advocate for disability inclusion but as well support the constituency through the organizations that works with.”
Mamina added that “we were privileged to partner and get sponsorship from Tanganda Tea Zimbabwe, Natty’s Kitchen and Mason Graphics House.”
Through his facebook account with the name Nyasha Nhau Madzongwe, he gives credit to his fellow colleagues including disability rights activists.
