PLATINUM: KING OF METALS

Key characteristics of platinum that make it so valuable

Zimbabwe is stepping up efforts to move higher up the electric-vehicle battery value chain by processing its lithium domestically instead of exporting raw minerals.

The country has suspended exports of unprocessed lithium ahead of a full ban planned for 2027.

It also commissioned its first lithium sulphate processing plant earlier this year, as Zimbabwe seeks to capture more value from its mineral resources and strengthen its position in the growing battery supply chain.
