Day 21 National Lockdown
Speech Begins
Today as I address you more than 2 million people have been affected worldwide.
The continent risks to lose to the pandemic if there is any casual approach to the pandemic
Of late we have seen a spiking increase in the cases in Zimbabwe
We should do our best to avoid any further spread of the pandemic in our country
Our Government continues to do its best in curbing the pandemic in spite of any difficulties
The lockdown clearly bears negative impact to our entire society but nothing is more important than life saving
The lockdown is never a panacea but a measure to avoid the spread whilst we map the way forward
More recruits and specialized training and retraining for efficacy in fighting the pandemic
In the past weeks iv held various meetings to prepare the Nation regarding to a new dimension in fighting the virus .
We have to improve our tracing system to be ahead of the pandemic
In anticipation of increased infections, we should be prepared to handle the situation across all facets of life
The Government will stop at nothing to ensure that our Medical personnel are well oiled and highly motivated

The three week Lockdown ordinarily expires midnight
Government has reviewed the situation
We are faced with a situation situation of our citizens coming back home even from highly affected countries
Our medical institutions continue to Test, isolate and treat every contact
Government has agreed to extent the lockdown by 14 days
This has been a very hard, but necessary and Unavoidable decision
Let’s all continue with the same attitude for the good of our nation.
The mining sector to resume/ scale up in line with set parameters
The mining and health sector ti work closely to avoid any problems in this regard
In retrospect of the Manufacturing sector, work to resume under strict conditions to avoid any risks
The responsible ministries to work closely with the ministry of health

The social welfare to continue working towards assisting the needy during this difficult period
Our Government to continue working on plans to ensure that our economy never crumbles due to these measures
I will continue to visit all areas to have a personal appreciation of what’s on the ground
Essential services to continue in line with set times and standards
Together we will win against this pandemic

A Reminder: Advice on good personal hygiene
• Wash hands with soap and water frequently or use an alcohol based hand-rub
• Cover your your nose and mouth with tissue paper or fixed elbow when coughing and sneezing
• Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth
• Avoid contact contact with people who are sick, coughing or sneezing
• Continue to listen and abide by Govt or the Ministry of Health issued laws, advices and instructions.
• Avoid unnecessary travelling in the suburbs and visiting of neighbours except when going to authorised shops to buy food.
