How To Make Shoe Polish

This polish produces a mirror finish on leather, a matte shine on leather

For this project you will need:

•A jar with a lid
•An old candle's wax , or any wax you can get your hands on.
• Olive oil
• Charcoal
•Double boiler (or an improvised one.)
•Spoon, preferably disposable

Begin by melting enough wax to fill 3/4 of your jar (the jar should have a lid.) Use a double boiler to melt.

When the wax has melted, add in oil. 4 tsp olive oil

3. Get your charcoal, grind it till it turns to dust.

Add this charcoal powder to the wax until it is a saturated black. Once it is satured, stop adding the powder.

Mix well, and pour into a jar. Place the covered jar in the freezer for 20 minutes or until the wax has solidified. Take out and store away from direct heat or sunlight

To make coloured polish
Use crayons and oil to match other colored shoes. Credit to owner. Hope you learnt something

1. Soda Ash (Sodium Carbonate) – 1 kg
Removes grease and helps soften hard water.
2. Caustic Soda – 150 g
Breaks down stubborn stains and oil.
3. Sulphuric Acid – small quantity (for neutralization, optional)
4. STPP (Sodium Tripolyphosphate) – 250 g
Boosts cleaning power and prevents dirt from re-depositing on clothes.
5. Foaming Agent (e.g., Texapon or SLS powder) – 200 g
Creates rich foam.
6. Sodium Sulphate – 500 g
Acts as filler and balances concentration.
7. Perfume – few spoons (e.g., Lemon Fresh, Lavender, or Ocean Breeze)
Adds fragrance.
8. Colorant (optional)
Gives your detergent a bright, attractive look.
9. Fragrance Softener (optional) – small cup (e.g., Comfort or Sta-Soft brand)
Makes clothes feel soft and smell fresh.

Step by Step Process:

Step 1: Prepare Your Work Area
Wear gloves and a face mask. Work in a well ventilated space or outside detergent chemicals can be strong.

Step 2: Mix the Cleaning Base
Pour Soda Ash into a wide bowl or basin.
Add the Caustic Soda and mix thoroughly using a stick or wooden spoon until well combined.

Step 3: Add the Boosters
Add STPP and Sodium Sulphate. Mix again to get a consistent blend.
These ingredients help your detergent clean deeply and stay powdery.

Step 4: Add Foaming Agent and Color
Add the Texapon (or SLS powder) and stir well to form a smooth, foamy mixture.
If you’re using a colorant, sprinkle a small amount and mix until even.

How to make pine gel. Here are the ingredients for 5 liters of pine gel:

Chemicals costs $7

- 500 mL NP6
- 500 mL Salphonic
- 200 mL Pine Oil
- 5 grams Dye

# # # Instructions:

1. First, combine the NP6 and Salphonic in a container and mix them well.
2. Next, add 3.5 liters of water to the mixture, stirring thoroughly.
3. After that, add the pine oil to thicken the product and mix again.
4. Finally, add the green dye and mix until well combined.
5. Once everything is mixed, pack the gel for marketing.

How to Make 20L Tile Cleaner

Ingredients
- 1L Butyl Oxtol
- 1kg SLES (Sodium Lauryl Ether Sulfate)
- 500g NP9 (Nonylphenol Ethoxylate)
- Yellow dye (optional)
- Perfume (optional, as Butyl Oxtol has a strong smell)

Method
1. In an empty bucket, mix SLES and NP9 together for 2 minutes.
2. Gradually add 17.5L of water while stirring until fully dissolved.
3. Add 1L of Butyl Oxtol and mix very well.
4. Finally, add the yellow dye if desired.

Usage
This tile cleaner is effective for cleaning various surfaces, particularly tiles, due to its powerful surfactants that help break down dirt, grease, and grime. Butyl Oxtol is a strong solvent that enhances cleaning efficiency, while SLES and NP9 serve as surfactants that help lift and remove stains. The yellow dye and optional perfume can improve the product's appearance and scent, but they are not essential for its cleaning properties.

*LUXURIOUS BODY and SHOWER (GEL) SOAP*
(makes 100 litre)
*Raw Materials* :
1. 12 liters of boiling water poured into a container. Mix thoroughly with 3.1 kg of fine salt until completely dissolved.
2. To the above add 10 liters of cold water and mix for 5 minutes. Allow to cool for at least 30 minutes. Place the above into a drum that is spacious enough to accommodate 100 liters without spilling it when the ingredients are mixed.
3. 4 kg of CDE
4. 61.390 kg SLES
5. 6 kg PEARL SLES
6. 200 ml formalin
7. 70 ml perfume
8. 3.240 liter of cold water
9. DO NOT ADD DYE
*Method:*
1. Add the CDE to the contents of the drum and mix very well.
2. Now add the SLES and mix very well. Now add the PEARL SLES and mix well
3. Add the formalin and mix well.
4. Add perfume and mix.
5. Lastly, ad the remaining cold water and mix until the solution becomes thick and creamy.
Remember, gels also cost more than ordinary hand soap. Check what is on the market and at what price.
