All that Glitters IS GOLD!!

In todays world the buzz words are Inkjet and UV Inkjet but what started the digital label printing revolution?
In 2013 HP claimed that the HP WS6600 digital press was the worlds best selling label press not just in digital but across the entire label market of both digital and flexo.

Launched in September 2011 at Label Expo Europe I remember looking at this press in awe and amazement, HP's marketing genius was to show a "Tower of Power" which was a massive tower of printed and diecut labels that showed the productivity of the press in just one shift.

In 2012 putting all balls on the line for not the first time I borrowed as much money as I could and purchased a HP Indigo WS4000 that had been "upgraded" to WS4500 specs from Currie Group the Australian HP distributor.
This press was reconditioned and was like Frankenstein, it had been made up from used and scrapped Indigo presses.
Our clients loved the quick turnaround, zero plate charges and the beautiful quality, however they hated the delays and disappointment when the press broke down (frequently)
Problems aside this took us well and truly down our digital journey.

Come February 2015 we took a massive leap of faith and been to the bank again, this time purchasing a brand new HP WS6800 press for over $1.3 million Australian dollars - an absolute fortune for the time.
By February 2021 we purchased our second HP Indigo 6000 series press a WS6900, upgraded our WS6800 to WS6900 specs and the digital journey has continued.

In September 2025 HP Indigo announced that over 3000 HP 6000, 6600, 6800, 6900 and 6K presses had been installed worldwide. The current newest Indigo is the 6K+ which had a substantial redesign for even more uptime.

This video shows Label Power silver holographic label stock printed in opaque white and CMYK with the stock creating mesmerizing colours as it runs through the press.

Here’s just a couple of our label printing presses in action.
First press is an Omet Kflex 540mm with 8 colour stations and featuring GEW Water cooled LED curing, the Second Press is a Bobst 5X 440mm wide press with 10 colours and GEW UV curing.
The first job on the Omet is a clear on clear labels with metallic gold cold foiling and the second job on the Bobst press is a produce label.
